Can you add my number plate to the artwork?
Yes, no problem. Please contact me with your details. If your number plate has a different font or shape, please e-mail a photo to cardesignsketches@tiscali.co.uk
My car is a different colour. Can you change your artwork to match my car’s colour?
Yes, I can do this. I don’t charge any extra if it’s a standard colour. Aftermarket or special paint jobs will be subject to a quote – please contact me
How much will it cost to add a number plate and change the colour?
I charge £15 to add a numberplate. Colour changes

I have aftermarket wheels on my car, can you add them to your artwork?
Yes, no problem. Please contact me with the details or e-mail me a photo of the wheels.
What is a ‘Bespoke order’
Any order where the artwork is tailored or changed to better reflect an actual car is termed a ‘Bespoke Order’. This could be anything from adding a number plate to incorporating lots of modifications.
If I want to order a sketch of my car, do I pay in advance?
Yes. I ask that all orders are paid for in advance. When you have received a quote and are happy to proceed, you can pay by logging on to www.paypal.co.uk and sending the quoted amount to cardesignsketches@tiscali.co.uk I will confirm that I have received your payment by e-mail and keep you informed as to your order’s progress. You can also pay by cheque – made payable to Car Design Sketches, however cheques must clear before work can start. Please contact me for my address if paying by cheque.
How long will it take to complete?
It varies. I try to complete orders asap without compromising quality. Each sketch takes around 10hrs to complete, but this rarely done in ‘one go.’
In busy times, I operate a ‘waiting list’ to manage orders. If you want to place an order, I will let you know approximately how long it will take and keep you informed as to your order’s progress. Most orders take (starting from scratch) take between 10days and 2 weeks.
Very occasionally, due to lack of time available, my car design work means I can’t undertake any bespoke orders. In this case, I will let you know and get back to you when I can start your order.
What sizes of print do you do?
My artwork is available from A3(420mm x 297mm) up to A2(594mm x 420mm) and A1(841mm x 594mm).
Can you print on to canvas?
Yes. All my artwork is available on canvas, either rolled (ready for stretching) or stretcher framed (gallery wrapped over a frame, 25mm or 45mm depth) All oversees canvas orders are rolled only. Please contact me for a price.
How do you produce the artwork?
I work mostly on computer these days – using Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. I refer to photographs, brochures etc to maintain a degree of detail accuracy. I sketch out a line drawing of the car by hand using my tablet & pen, then build up the artwork in layers. My experience as a car designer is used when deciding on a perspective and putting in reflections which describe the forms of the car with hi-lights and shadow.
Will my print fade over time?
My A3 and A2 prints are produced using industry standard Epson pigment inks which are publicised as ‘light fast’ for around 75 years. A1 prints and canvas orders are out-sourced and use different inks however, we use a satin finish UV resistant laminated coating to add protection. Whilst I can’t guarantee it, I am very confident that the steps I have taken will ensure longevity.
I recommend that if possible, placing out of direct sunlight to minimise any chance of fading.
Can you work from a photograph?
Yes, if you have a view of your car you are happy with or specifically want to use, I can use this as a basis. Please send any photos to cardesignsketches@tiscali.co.uk
If I order a sketch of my car, can I check the artwork?
Yes, with all bespoke orders, I send out a thumbnail file of the artwork, so you can check everything’s is to your liking.
If I am unhappy with the print, can I return it?
I ask that you contact me first, stating the reason for wanting to return it. Full terms and conditions, including returns policy can be found at the bottom of the page.

If I buy three prints, do I pay three postage rates?
No, all orders including multiple orders carry one postage charge.
What paper do you use?
I use highest archival quality 260 gsm matt or semi matt photographic paper.
Do you offer a framing service?
Sorry, at present we do not offer a traditional ‘frame and mount’ service, however all prints are available as ‘gallery wrapped’ or ‘stretcher framed’ canvas prints. This where the canvas is wrapped, or stretched over a frame. Please contact me for all canvas prints
I like the artwork, but would prefer a white background. Can I change the
background?
Where possible, backgrounds can be deleted and left white. Please contact me if you would like to order a print with a white background. If you would prefer a different style of background, please contact me to discuss.
Can I have a file of the artwork to use as a desktop picture on my computer?
If you buy a paper or canvas print, I can also offer a small jpeg file (800 x 566 pixels) for an additional £5.00. These files are intended for personal use only (PC desktop etc), no reproduction is permitted without permission. Please contact me if you would like to purchase one of these.
Can I buy a canvas print on line?
Not at present. My On line shop is for paper prints A3 to A1 only. Please contact me for all canvas orders.
Do you undertake ‘one - off’ commissions?
Yes. Please contact me with your requirements. I would make the point however that prices will be higher than the ones in my shop.
Can I use one of your sketches to promote my own business, e.g. on my website?

Do you sign the prints?
Yes, all paper prints are now hand signed. Canvas prints however display an ‘embedded’, printed signature
